Home Theater System

These days it has never been easier to get your hands on a home theater system with all the trimmings, add-ons and gadgets.

Hollywood keeps pumping out films, and the home entertainment technologies just keep getting better. It's no wonder that people are deciding more and more to take the stay at home option and watch movies on their own home theatre systems rather than in the cinemas.

With the cinema experience getting more risky and more expensive every year, you just can't go wrong with a home theater system if you're into your movies at all. Not only are the ticket prices getting ridiculous for movies, but you have to sit there and watch a half an hour or more of usually loud and annoying advertisements and previews.

I don't mind a few previews, but the dozen or so previews we get these days is a little much I think, especially when they're broken up with ads for Coke, popcorn and other such products. I shouldn't have to pay to watch commercials - I can see as many commercials as I want at home for free.

Not only is watching commercials easy to do from home, but renting or ordering movies from home is a piece of cake these days too. With the availability of online movie rental companies like Netflix and Blockbuster, and on-demand movies we can get from our cable providers, it's entirely effortless to keep a good flow of top movies to watch coming through your home.

This ease of home movie watching makes having a good home theater system really pay off. While I admit there is still an inherent excitement about going out to the movies, I confess that most of the time I'd rather save the cash and watch something on my home theater system. Especially with all the terrible movies in the theaters these days.

Home theater systems have advanced a lot, even over the past few months, and they now offer something amazing in visual and audio quality. With Dolby 5.1 surround sound and a flat panel television of around 36 inches or more, you're pretty much in movie watching heaven. That's the set up I have, and it never ceases to blow me away.

If you find yourself getting annoying by the movie experience in theatres, or for whatever other reason you just like to watch movies at home, I recommend getting a good home theater system.

They're not as expensive as you would think, and although they take a little effort and planning to set up, they can really make your video watching nights a joy. I definitely recommend opting for surround sound. It really makes you feel like you're in the movie, and is every bit as immersive as the theater experience.
